Bill Ramsey is art director of The Pulse, Chattanooga's Weekly Alternative. These covers and feature pages represent my first six months with The Pulse, during which time I completely redesigned the paper. The redesign debuted on Nov. 10, 2011, with a cover story on John Hiatt (which I also wrote). The Pulse is a work in progress and I continue to tweak the design, seeking optimal readability and image clariety on newsprint, as well as attempting to achieve a sophisticated yet relaxed design for the city's alternative newsweekly.
